WINNING POKER HANDS


 

A Hand is a player's five-card combination. Below is their ranking order.


royal flush

Royal Flush:
The five highest cards in a suit- Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten, all of the same suit.

Example: Ace of Spades, King of Spades, Queen of Spades, Jack of Spades, Ten of Spades


straight flush

Straight Flush:
Any five cards of the same suit that are in consecutive order. The Ace can play high and can play low.

Example: 7 of Hearts, 6 of Hearts, 5 of Hearts, 4 of Hearts, 3 of Hearts


four of a kind

Four of a Kind:
Four cards of the same rank, and accompanied by a "kicker".

Example: 4 of Spades, 4 of Hearts, 4 of Clubs, 4 of Diamonds, 2 of Hearts



full house

Full House:
Any three cards of the same rank, in addition to any pair of another rank.

Example: 7 of Spades, 7 of Hearts, 7 of Clubs, Jack of Hearts, Jack of Diamonds



flush

Flush:
Any five non-consecutive cards of the same suit.

Example: Ace of Spades, Jack of Spades, 9 of Spades, 4 of Spades, 2 of Spades




straight

Straight:
Any five consecutive cards of different suits. The ace can count as a one or an ace.

Example: 7 of Diamonds, 6 of Diamonds, 5 of Diamonds, 4 of Diamonds, 3 of Diamonds



three of a kind

Three of a Kind:
Three cards of the same rank combined with two "kickers".

Example: 9 of Hearts, 9 of Clubs, 9 of Spades, 8 of Hearts, 4 of Clubs



two pair

Two Pair:
Any two cards of the same rank, another two cards of another rank, and a "kicker".

Example: King of Clubs, King of Hearts, 6 of Diamonds, 6 of Hearts, 4 of Spades



one pair

One Pair:
Any two cards of the same rank and three unmatched cards or "kickers".

Example: Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Spades, 5 of Hearts, 3 of Spades, 6 of Diamonds



High Card:
The person holding the highest card when no other player has any of the other sets.

Example: King beats Queen
